Purchase agreement
Purchase agreement
Every puppy is sold with a written agreement, signed by both the buyer and the breeder. This page is a summary so nothing in it is a surprise on the day. The signed document is the agreement; this page is not.
What the signed agreement records
- You. Your name, address, phone number and email.
- Your puppy. Name, sex, colour, date of birth, microchip number, and both parents’ names.
- The money. The adoption fee, 7% Indiana sales tax, and the full amount. The fee is $2,060, or $2,000 where the balance is paid in cash. The $500 deposit and the date it was paid, then the balance and the date it was paid.
- Signatures. Yours and ours, each dated.
Bring photo identification for the address, and please tell us in advance if the puppy is going home to a different name or address than the one on the application.
Terms
- Price and deposit. The purchase price is $2,060, or $2,000 where the balance is paid in cash. Sales tax is added. A $500 deposit reserves the puppy and is applied to the balance. The balance is due before or at pickup. We accept card or cash, not checks.
- Deposit terms. The deposit is transferable to another available puppy if plans change. The deposit is non-refundable.
- Go-home. Puppies go home at eight weeks of age or after, once they have had their vet check.
- Health. The puppy is sold with our written health guarantee, which is part of this agreement. Please note that the guarantee requires your puppy to be examined by a veterinarian within 72 hours of going home in order to be valid.
- Care. The buyer agrees to provide routine veterinary care and a safe home.
- Family companion. The puppy is sold as a family companion and is not to be used for breeding.
- Return first. If at any point the buyer can no longer keep the dog, we are contacted first and given the option to take the dog back before it is rehomed or surrendered.
- Returns. If a puppy is returned, the purchase price is not refunded except where the written health guarantee provides otherwise.
A signed copy goes home in the go-home folder with the health records.
